Celebrated Moments

Energy Unleashed through Silence Igniting a Passionate Firestorm of Emotion

September 15 – October 13, 2007 at M.J. HIGGINS Fine Art & Furnishings

Artist Reception: Saturday, September 15, 6-9pm

“Celebrated Moments” is the debut of Jennifer Rae Ochs’ most recent abstract expressionist work and will also include select earlier pieces. Observing a personal principle of authenticity as her artistic constant, Ochs throws open the floodgates to the boundless possibilities of expression that Abstract work allows. Ochs’ paintings reveal a daring talent, an intimate raw passionate expression as they entice and excite, inviting the viewer to experience an unleashing of spirit.

The power of Ochs’ work transcends craft or technique. Each painting connects heart and soul to the core of being, suspending the viewer in a kind of timeless, captivating resonance. Ochs’ career is on the move with significant momentum as it garners an ever-increasing and well-deserved spotlight from both American and International fans and collectors.

From the first time that Ochs approached a canvas, she intuitively connected paint to surface as a channel for vibrant passion. Trained as a classic pianist, Ochs honed her craft in art through a continuing association with an eclectic cadre of fellow artists, encompassing a variety of styles and creative media. Hailing from a close knit family from Minnesota, Ochs possesses a strong sense of origin balanced with an instinctive hunger to experience the spectrum of life. With a well-stamped passport, she approaches painting as she does traveling; venturing forth courageously with an open mind and spirit, always seizing each opportunity to immerse herself in new experiences and to live them to the fullest, coming to the canvas inspired to express the mysterious findings of her soul.

Ochs has recently exhibited at the Chase Mitchell Gallery in Orange County and the Black Cat Gallery in Culver City. After showing her first light-installation piece “u-vism” (merging a pop-art approach and abstract technique) at the Hollywood Pop art gallery La-La Land, Ochs was asked to exhibit in a public art project “Autumn Lights” at the Caltrans Plaza, Downtown Los Angeles in Fall 2006, and again at the LA Weekly DETOUR Music Festival, October 2006. Ochs proudly accepted an invitation in 2005 to exhibit in the “Today & Tomorrow Art Show” at the prestigious Sejong Center in Seoul, Korea. Ochs previously exhibited twice at BGH Gallery at Bergamot Station in Santa Monica, including her first solo show aptly titled “I. Forward” in 2005.

“Jennifer Rae Ochs is an extraordinary talent.” says Higgins. “I truly value where she comes from in her life and in her work. The freedom of her spirit is inspiring and the authenticity of her expression is refreshing and uplifting. Her work is imbued with these qualities, through the layers of energy and excitement that she consistently brings to her vibrant expressions. I am very excited to be hosting this exhibit, one that promises to captivate everyone who comes to experience it.”

“To me, Martha is an inspiring example of a woman who embraces and lives her love of art in a very generous way,” says Ochs. “I’m excited and honored to be exhibiting in her amazing gallery space in the midst of historic downtown LA, on Gallery Row. The gallery is beautiful and fun and accessible… she’s created a perfect space.”
