June in the Studio

While there are no exhibitions on the calendar this month, the studio is anything but quiet. June finds me immersed in three custom commission projects, each with its own story, palette, and personality. Every collector brings a different vision, a different energy, and a different way of communicating what they hope to experience within a space. One thing remains constant: the desire for a one-of-one artwork created for an environment that refuses to be ordinary.

Commission One

This project centers on a specific desaturated palette of teals, deep blue, and soft seafoam variations. The goal is to create a calm and soothing diptych, bringing ease, cohesion, and soft elegance to this updated bedroom space.

Commission Two

This large-scale statement piece explores layered blues, greens, and purples, ranging from bold and expressive to softly pastel tones. Luminous pearlescent elements will create interaction with light, while intentional white space allows the composition room to breathe. Areas of sculptural texture and movement will provide depth, energy, and visual intrigue.

This collector once called Hawaii home and hopes to bring a touch of those island-inspired colors into her new desert environment. She is a returning collector who continues to thoughtfully build her JRO ART collection.

Commission Three

After much contemplation, and more than a year in the making, this statement piece will embrace the warmth and richness of deep jewel tones of blue, green, and purple, layered with substantial sculpted texture and light-interactive elements. Created for the living room and home entrance, the work will bring depth, color, and energy into this beautifully remodeled home.

From Vision to Artwork

One of my favorite parts of creating custom work is discovering how differently people communicate and how each vision takes shape.

Some collectors speak in paint colors. Others speak entirely in feelings.

They describe a room, a memory, a sense of calm, a desire for energy, or simply how they hope to feel when they walk through the door. My role is translating these ideas into color, texture, movement, and light.

It is a process built on listening, observation, trust, and intuition.

Before the layers, before the color decisions, before the finished piece emerges, there is simply possibility.

June has been a month of exploring that space, listening, building slowly, and allowing each work to reveal itself one layer at a time.

For all of the excitement that comes with exhibitions and events, there is something equally meaningful about these quieter studio months. A balance of experimentation, reflection, and rest creates the conditions for the work to fully unfold.

And so, for now, I remain here in the studio, in my own kind of June bloom, painting, exploring, and deeply grateful for the opportunity to bring these visions to life.

Thank you to each of these phenomenal women for the trust, collaboration, and opportunity to create something uniquely theirs.
